TOMORROW'S TOWER

University of Toronto Best Architecture at the 19th Undergraduate EERI Seismic Design Competition

June 2022. Part of a competition submission for the 19th Annual Undergraduate Seismic Design Competition. In collaboration with UofT Seismic Design Team. Winner of Best Architecture.

Tomorrow’s Tower is a mixed-use tower that blends into Salt Lake City’s skyline of heavy-set, rectilinear towers. The tower aims to use recycled glass and GFRC materials that take advantage of the city's sand and stone industry. A triangle pattern on the tower’s facade shades its windows, reducing the need for cooling in the summer. The same pattern is continued on the inner atrium of the first seven floors, creating an indoor facade that helps mediate between residential life and public life below. Tomorrow's Tower is programmed with retail space, residential units, private and open-concept offices, a shared recreational garden, and a lounge bar.
